MINUTES OF PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON Monday 10th October at Middlesmoor Village Hall at 7.30pm

  1. PRESENT Chair Cllr. S Ramsden, Cllr D. Fothergill, Cllr A. Challis, Cllr J Graham, Cllr M Wells, Cllr A Sykes, Cllr D Verity, County Cllr A Murday and Clerk Mr Alan Bean

  4. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING Proposed Cllr S Ramsden, Seconded Cllr D Fothergill

  5. DEATH OF THE CHAIRMAN A minutes silence was held for the Loss of our Chairman, Cllr Robin Watson, who died tragically this month. He had been instrumental in many of the work that had happened in the parish over the last few years, including massive amounts in the recent jubilee celebrations. The deputy chair, Cllr S Ramsden was voted to continue as Chairman until the annual meeting next year.

  6. MATTERS ARISING Lean to Garage next to Rustic Cottage is to be looked in to

  7. COUNCILLORS REPORTS County Cllr A Murday reported on the future of the county council with the instigations of possible “Hub” within the community, to help the council work better with the community. Nidderdale Plus is to hold a meeting to discuss this possibility. Nidderdale Energy are holding a meeting to discuss a possible energy plan for the region, Cllr S Ramsden is going to attend. Cllr Murday was asked about getting Yorkshire Water and Highways together to discuss the issue of the reservoir road. Cllr A Challis reported she had been told mattresses had been taken in to a barn at How Stean, as though it had been turned into accommodation.

  8. FIRE STATION None

  9. CCTV . Chairman is going to look into the situation of CCTV as Cllr R Watson was managing it previously

  10. STREET LIGHTS Chair is going to check the light at The Crown, to see who is responsible for it. Ramsgil has one light out. Chair is ging to report this for repair.

  11. VILLAGE ISSUES The school closure threat has been withdrawn, for now.

  12. PARKING NEAR RESERVOIR None

  13. HIGHWAYS A number of potholes are appearing in the area. These are to be reported to the highways for repair. Drains need clearing at Ramsgill through to Middlesmoor. The council is to consider employing a contractor to clear these ready for the upcoming bad weather. Chair is going to look at quotes for this.

  14. PLAYGROUNDS REPORT

  15. JUBILIEE Cllr M Wells is looking into the cost to the placks.

  16. PARISH CARETAKER Saplings are an issue again. It was decided to look into this more at next meeting.

  17. PLANNING APPLICATIONS none

  18. COMMUTED SUMS The chairs are currently waiting being fitted due to the loss of Cllr R Watson.

  19. MILLENIUM MARQUEE The Marquee has been out, but is still to be invoiced for £50
