MINUTES OF PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON Monday 13th October at Ramsgill Village Hall at 7.30pm

  1. PRESENT Cllr R Harker, Cllr J Carter, Cllr S. Ramsden, Cllr D. Fothergill, Cllr D Verity, Cllr J Graham, County Cllr A Murday and Clerk Mr Alan Bean and 2 members of the public

  6. COUNCILLORS REPORTS Cllr Murday has been asked about the future use of the Band Room, and its potential, within the community. The trustees are currently looking into this. Cllr Murday is going to help connect the Trustees with people who maybe able to help. Cllr Murday also stated the “Secret Agents” youth club have applied for funding.

  7. LOFTHOUSE SCHOOL It was discussed if there would be legal costs to consider when taking over the land at the School. Email to be sent to Nick Cook at North Yorkshire Council to see if there is. When it comes to the mosaic on the school building, the Parish Council will look into this, when the time comes, if it could be attached to the village hall. Nothing new on the rest of the school legal ongoing issues.

  8. FIRE STATION Still needing recruits

  9. STREET LIGHTS There appears to be one not working, but it appears North Yorkshire Council is working on it.

  10. VILLAGE ISSUES One seat at Middlesmoor has significant wear and tear, meaning it is need of repair. Cllr S Ramsden is going to inspect it and look at potential costs. It was also suggested that the grass is in need of cutting and potential of bulbs planting to improve the area. Cllr S Ramsden is looking into options for bulbs. Cllr D Fothergill also stated he may be able to get commuted sums to contribute.

  11. PARKING NEAR RESERVOIR None

  12. HIGHWAYS Wath bridge is going to be dealt with through insurance. It means approximately a minimum of 3 months before any work is likely to happen. It is also going to mean the potential of the bridge being closed for a period of time. The wall at the reservoir was damaged by a drunk driver. This is something that will be dealt with by Yorkshire Water.

  13. PLAYGROUNDS A member of the community has put some work into Middlesmoor Play Area. This is not owned or covered by the Parish Council.

  14. PARISH CARETAKER Caretaker to clear near the reservoir to stop water getting on the road. Bill received from caretaker.

  15. PLANNING APPLICATIONS 24/02281/FUL Retrospective application regarding air pump at Sandholme, Middlesmoor. The council agreed that they did not object or approve the application, however did state the council approVe the location but wish the planning officer to consider the potential noise affecting locals.

  16. COMMUTED SUMS Cllr D Fothergill is looking into potential for bulbs for the area from commuted sums.

  17. MILLENIUM MARQUEE £50 received from cricket club in cash. This cash has been used to pay towards Ruth Sykes for the gardening of the triangle

  18. PINFOLD nothing to report. It was pointed out it is important to be aware right of access to a Pinfold is included on any property sales.
