Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting MAY 2022 was approved JUNE 2022

PARISH CHAIR REPORT

Chair Cllr S Ramsden reported the following. A full transcript is available from the clerk on request.

On the 11th July the chair, Cllr R Watson, held a meeting regarding the request by the school of governors to North Yorkshire County Council to close the school. This requested to NYCC was later removed. County Councillor A Murdaywas very helpful in dealing with this, however this is an ongoing situation as it has yet to be fully addressed. Parents are moving children due to the management of this federation. Cllr R Watson ran a very successful Jubilee for the Queen which will be remembered by the parish for years to come. In a tragic accident the Chair, Cllr R Watson lost his life in September. Vice Chair, Cllr S Ramsden took over during this time and Cllr D Fothergill took over as Vice Chair. Lofthouse cricket field was to host the Kings Coronation Event. Harrogate Borough Council ceased to exist and became part of North Yorkshire County Council. Thanks goes to Cllr Stan Lumley for his years of service as Councillor for Norht Yorkshire and Harrogate Borough Council.

COUNTY AND DISTRICT COUNCILLOR REPORT County Cllr Murday wasn’t present for his report, however did arrive later for the Parish Meeting.

MILLENIUM MARQUEE REPORT Cllr D Fothergill reported that the Marquee account currently stands at £2700 . It has earned mney through 1 event. It was reported that the condition means although it is a useful assett for the Parish, it is no longer a viable renting assett. The Marquee has some ropes and wooden pegs needing repair, and the odd tear.

Cllr S Ramsden With all that is happening in the Parish,The community needs to stand together for future issues, how they have done before. He then thanked everyone for attending.

MINUTES OF PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

  5. MATTERS ARISING After last month report stating there was Governor Vacancies, according to Mrs Newbald at NYCC, the board of Governors have stated there were none. Cllr Murday has written to Mrs Newbald who since the has visited the Governors and School Head. He is waiting for a report on what has happened at ths meeting. The chair is also going to write to Mrs Newbald. It was also agreed that the Chair would contact the church as this is a C of E school.

  6. NEW COUNCILLOR The member of public who joined out meeting, Richard Harker has been voted in as the new councillor. He will be signed in at the next meeting. He was voted in unanimously.

  7. COUNCILLORS REPORTS Councillors have been installing the plaques for the Queens Jubilee last year for the Trees planted. Cllr M Wells reported there is a bench that needs replacing, as per the commuted sums

  8. FIRE STATION Nothing new to report

  9. STREET LIGHTS nothing to report

  10. VILLAGE ISSUES nothing to report

  11. CORONATION A review of the coronation concluded that the event was a success however it was noted that there were several issues on the day. The event timing must, in future events be set in stone, as the event ran an extra 1½ hrs. Secondly there was a lot of rubbish left after the vent, so a clearup crew would be beneficial. It was also noted that the cricket club found a wheel from their line painting machine was taken. This means this machine no longer is useable, A donation was received of £400 for the disco,

  12. PARKING NEAR RESERVOIR None

  13. HIGHWAYS There is work commencing to repair the wall at the side of the reservoir. It ws also mentoned by Cllr J Carter that the bridge at Wath, the railings have been damaged.

  14. PLAYGROUNDS Nothing to report

  15. PARISH CARETAKER Caretaker to be asked to cut the grass.

  1. COMMUTED SUMS In discussions with Cllr Murday, it was pointed out there are funds still waiting to be claimed. Cllr D Fothergill is aware of this and the council as a whole has been looking into allocations of these funds. Cllr D Fothergill is going to get an updated list for the next meeting.
