MINUTES OF PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON Monday 10th March at Middlesmoor Village Hall 7.30pm

  1. PRESENT Cllr S. Ramsden, Cllr R Harker, Cllr D. Fothergill, Cllr A Sykes, Cllr J Graham, Cllr D Verity, County Cllr A Murday, Clerk Mr Alan Bean and members of the Public

  5. MATTERS ARISING Lofthouse notice board needs repairing, but in better weather.

  6. COUNCILLORS REPORTS Cllr Murday stated there has been an issue with school transport. When parents filled in the forms for school bus, it wasnt stated clearly that transport is only available for the nearest school not catchment area. As such some parents expecting a school bus, are not getting one, even through they are sending their children to the correct school.

  7. LOFTHOUSE SCHOOL The application has been written to include reference to the Lazenby trust, which part of the property includes. The plan is to offer Lofthouse Memorial Hall as a swap for the school, The documentation includes reasons why the Memorial Hall is a better development option and how the school would be used within the community. Evidence of Lazenby trust was to be included in the application. The Parish Council after a unanimous vote, is happy with the suggested offer. The council also wished to thank Anne Sowerby , Liam and Helen Newton and Rosie Costello for all there help and effort in this.

  8. VE DAY 5th May weekend is the planned option for any celebrations. Thought are towards a bonfire, tea party for kids. After consideration, it was felt best to get the view of the community via social media before arranging anything specific. It was agreed by all members of the council to back this with up to £2000 towards the event.

  9. FIRE STATION Still needing more people to volunteer

  10. STREET LIGHTS .Stean street light issues, according to Nick Wilson, isn’t straight forward so he is going to visit the site.

  11. VILLAGE ISSUES Dog mess is increasing, so Cllr A Murday is going to talk to the Dog Warden about it, and possible solutions including new signage.

  12. PARKING NEAR RESERVOIR None

  13. HIGHWAYS SatNav issues of vehicles on Moor Lane and going down unsuitable roads, is being looked at by Julie Smith MP. The area where Trees have been removed near the reservoir, is die to be worked on now better weather is coming. There is a pothole and blocked drain just below Ramsgill
