MINUTES OF PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON Monday 10th February at Lofthouse Memorial Hall 7.30pm

  1. PRESENT Cllr S. Ramsden, Cllr R Harker, Cllr D. Fothergill, Cllr A Sykes, Cllr J Carter, Cllr J Graham, Cllr. A Challis, Cllr M Wells, County Cllr A Murday, Clerk Mr Alan Bean and members of Nidderdale Plus along with members of the community

  4. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

  5. NIDDERDALE PLUS 2 members of Nidderdale Plus came to explain t local residents the services they can offer. They were focusing on the digital switch over and how this will effect people. Summerbridge Methodist Church is going to host a meeting held with BT on this, and how those who still have analogue land line phones. Its on the 19th March from 10am to 4pm. Areas with poor mobile signals will have a delay of this switch over until 2030. Nidderdale Plus also offers community transport. The offices are open Monday to Friday 10-4 and Saturday 10-1.

  6. MATTERS ARISING Look again next month at notice boards

  7. COUNCILLORS REPORTS Cllr Murday is working on a consultation on local toilet facilities and how to improve them. NYC is looking at a loss of £1.4 million for the next financial year, and is currently looking for ways to save money

  8. LOFTHOUSE SCHOOL The potential purchase or swap of the Lofthouse school and the current Village Hall was discussed in depth. Discussions included bridging loans, valuations and the proposal form. The valuations are due shortly as is a meeting with the NYC members who have experience of this. The meeting is to be held 11.30 on Thursday 13th. A meeting to be held with members to discuss the valuations the evening before. Until the valuations arrive, it is hard to see the options in any depth. The update on this will take place at the next meeting

  9. VE DAY 5th May weekend is the planned option for any celebrations. It maybe local groups could become involved.

  10. FIRE STATION Still needing more people to volunteer

  11. STREET LIGHTS .Still waiting on removal of old lamp which Cllr Murday is looking at.

  12. VILLAGE ISSUES nothing new to report

  13. PARKING NEAR RESERVOIR None

  14. HIGHWAYS The Chair, Cllr S Ramsden is going to talk to Landowner about the area where trees have been removed to undertsand the plans for the ground and if defence against possible landslip is in place. Yorkshire Water is waiting for traffic management regarding the trees leaning on the wall. There is a blockage of the drainage at the top of Lofthouse

  16. PARISH CARETAKER nothing to report

  17. PLANNING APPLICATIONS none

  18. COMMUTED SUMS Funds for seating should be hitting the accounts shortly

  19. MILLENIUM MARQUEE Lock on trailer storage has been broken. Nothing taken and Cllr D Fothergill has replaced it.
