MINUTES OF PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON Monday 8th January 2024 at Middlesmoor Memorial Hall 7.30pm

  1. PRESENT Cllr D. Fothergill, Cllr R Harker, Cllr J Graham, Cllr. A Challis, Cllr M Wells, Cllr D Verity, Cllr J Carter, Cllr A Sykes, County Cllr A Murday and Clerk Mr Alan Bean

  5. LOFTHOUSE SCHOOL Awaiting next meetings. Next meeting is 23rd January

  6. MATTERS ARISING Signage at Recycling has been put up

  7. COUNCILLORS REPORTS . Water is still an issue from the fields on to the road around Lofthouse. Council agreed it maybe best to write to the landowner thought to be responsible. Vice Chair Cllr M Wells agreed to do this. Cllr Murday pointed out the costs Harrogate borough Council caused with the Long Course weekend, and how this is for the next few years. Cllr J Carter brought up signage at stopping larger vehicles from Wath, Cllr Murday reported that he was already looking into the options.

  8. FIRE STATION Nothing to report

  9. STREET LIGHTS The light at Lofthouse that has been in dispute, has been agreed by the council to be taken over so that it can be sorted sooner rather than later. The light at Stean has been given permission to take a supply from the property.

  10. VILLAGE ISSUES The drain next to Halfway entrance has been missed on the recent drain cleaning.

  11. PARKING NEAR RESERVOIR None

  12. HIGHWAYS As stated earlier, drainage issues on to roads, with the threat of freezing weather, is a constant concern

  13. PLAYGROUNDS Nothing to report

  14. PARISH CARETAKER nothing to report

  15. PLANNING APPLICATIONS No applications

  16. COMMUTED SUMS nothing to report

  17. MILLENIUM MARQUEE in storage for the winter.

  21. PRECEPT The council agreed to keep the precept unchanged for the next year as funds are increasing.
