MINUTES OF PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON Monday 9th March 2020 Middlesmoor Village Hall at 7.30pm

  1. PRESENT Cllr S Ramsden (Vice Chairman), County Cllr S Lumley, Cllr J Graham, Cllr A Challis, Cllr D Fothergill, Cllr J Carter, Cllr A Sykes,

    We were also joined by 3 members of the Fire service and 2 members of Lofthouse Fire Service

  4. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING Proposed Cllr D Fothergill, Seconded Cllr A Challis,

  5. MATTERS ARISING Mobile Post Office is coming Thursday 26th 12.30 – 1.15, then returning weekly. This is a private venture, not owned by The Post Office. This mobile facility will be concerning for Costcutter, who also offers banking facilities. The footbridge at Wath has been recovered and resighted.

  6. COUNCILLORS REPORTS County Councillor S Lumley stated a 3.9% increase in budget is to take place for 2020-21. Coronavirus planning is being put into place, incase spread to rural community. The Dean of Ripon is looking into transport and housing challenges in Rural Communities. Tour De Yorkshire is scheduled to go through the area on the 3rd May. Cllr J Carter brought up about “Grim Up North” and the recent Pateley Meeting, where the company turned up to appologise, but basically said they would continue doing them. Cllr J Graham talked about the new school federation/ This is to spreading the costs over the 5 schools. Cllr S Ramsden pointed out in the recent snow fall, no gritters were out. County Cllr S Lumley stated that even the A59 had no gritters out, and they are looking into why the company due to deliver this service, didn’t go out as agreed.

  7. TELEPHONE BOXES Clerk to contact BT for repair to Telephone box at Middlesmoor

  8. FIRE STATION The Fire Service wished to thanks Mr S Bean, for his help setting up the Lofthouse Fire Station again. The fire station is now live but could do with an additional 2 or 3 people extra. The crew is currently shadowing other stations, so they can get practical experience, and learn more. They now have many new items, and equipment not used before at Lofthouse. They are receiving on gong training and are in fact already higher trained than ever before at Lofythouse. This training is going to continue to enable all members of the station to be at a much higher degree than previously seen. In the future they will also be out in the community offering prevention advice.

  13. HIGHWAYS Side of Gouthwaite reservoir is collapsing, Highways are being informed by clerk. It was also pointed out that when it rains, water is becoming excessive on roads. This is a landowner issue. In the community, 20 Mph signs were being mentioned as possibly being fitted in the area, for local areas and villages. It was pointed out by County Cllr S Lumley that at this moment at time, this would not be allowed.
