MINUTES OF PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON Monday 10th February at Middlesmoor Village Hall at 7.30pm

  1. PRESENT Cllr R Watson (Chairman), Cllr A Challis, Cllr A Sykes, Cllr D Fothergill, Cllr S Ramsden, Cllr M Wells, Cllr J Graham, Cllr J Carter,

  4. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING Proposed Cllr D Fothergill, Seconded Cllr A Challis,

  5. MATTERS ARISING 2 Rescues took place in Rasmgill on the 9th February, due to flooding. The Yorke Arms waas closeddue to the floods. Wath footbridge was destroyed. Yorkshire Water didn’t let any water out of the dams, even though there was a lot of warning of the pending storm and expected weather. There are many gulleys blocked. Coucillors are making a list.

  6. COUNCILLORS REPORTS A parishoner and Cllr S Ramsden brought up about 4×4’s and motorbikesthat are using moor lane. The lane is now unuseable for walkers and cyclists. The Chair is consulting AONB and the County Council regarding Traffic Restriction Orders. Cllr J Carter brought up about a company called “Grim Up North Running” and how it is causing issue and damage to footpaths. This company is bringing upwards of 400 runners, which the charge, onto public right of ways, The Right of ways are being destroyed by the sheer number of runners and marshalls. After contacting Public Rights Of Way department at the county council, and they confirmed that they are allowed to do this, and there is nothing legally can be done to stop them on the Public Rights of Ways. The Chair is going to write to the company, copying in AONB and County Coucillor Stan Lumley to see if there is something that they can do to lesson the impact. Cllr D Fothergill brought up that the Post Office is looking into a mobile service in the area. They are looking at mobile signal strength, as this is needed so the mobile post office can do transactions

  7. TELEPHONE BOXES Nothing new to report

  8. FIRE STATION The fire service is now live, although still shadowing until experienced They have already been called out a few times, bt are still looking for more help.

  9. RIGHTS OF WAY Nothing to report

  10. CCTV . 2 houses were broken into, the police have looked into it. CCTV is being checked

  11. STREET LIGHTS Currently all working

  12. RAMSGILL nothing additionla to report

  13. HIGHWAYS The issue of road collapsing due to the resevoir, is still being looked into. The mirror has been replaced. Cllr M. Wells pointed out the street signs need cleaning

  14. PLAYGROUNDS REPORT The fencing has finally been completed

  15. PARISH CARETAKER The council is looking for a replacement

  16. PLANNING APPLICATIONS None

  17. COMMUTED SUMS Nothing to report Council are informing anyone who has rights to commuted sums

HELP WANTED – The cricket club has been invited to be the host to “Golden Oldies from Around the World” tour in early August. 10 years ago the cricket club hosted this same tour, and Lofthouse Cricket Club was then host to visitors from Australia and South Africa, among others. It was such a success that Lofthouse Cricket Cub has been talked about around the world. Many of the Golden Oldies now own farms, and really enjoyed spending time in our farming community.
