MINUTES OF PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON Monday 9th December at Middlesmoor Village Hall 7.30pm

  1. PRESENT Cllr R Harker, Cllr D. Fothergill, Cllr J Graham, Cllr D Verity, Cllr. A Challis, Cllr M Wells, County Cllr A Murday and Clerk Mr Alan Bean

  5. MATTERS ARISING Boundary commission The council sent a letter stating their opposition to the suggested changes.

  6. COUNCILLORS REPORTS Notice board – Cllr S Ramsden is dealing with this, no update yet. Cllr Murday gave a report on the boundary commission. It was also discussed about the issue with falling trees during the storm and potential issues with trees at Gouthwaite reservoir.

  7. LOFTHOUSE SCHOOL NYC has announced they maybe selling Lofthouse school. Members of the council asked if there was a possibility of swapping the existing village hall for the school building, and using it as the village hall. It was suggested selling the old hall and buying the school building. Cllr A Murday explained that he would need to see what the actual situation would be and the councils views. It is also unsure who would be in control to facilitate this if wanted by the trustees of the hall and if it is a viable option. To be discussed at the next meeting.

  8. VE DAY It was discussed that a more relaxed event maybe preferential, lighting of a beacon and something in the pub as opposed to a big event.

  9. FIRE STATION Still looking for recruits

  10. STREET LIGHTS Nothing new to report

  11. VILLAGE ISSUES nothing new to report

  12. PARKING NEAR RESERVOIR None

  13. HIGHWAYS Trees removed from the side of Gouthwaite Reservoir road have left a dangerous space that cars may try to use as a passing place and by stuck, plus it may have the issue for landslides. Cllr Murday is going to look at these issues. Cllr J Graham is going to look into some form of hardstanding for the lay-by near the cricket pitch as the bins are sinking into the ground.

  15. PARISH CARETAKER The bill arrived for the cartaker work, which was agreed to be paid by the council

  16. PLANNING APPLICATIONS ZC24/03765/FUL The council has no objections but also pointed out a large entrance would be good passing place
