MINUTES OF PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON Monday 11th September 2023 at Lofthouse Memorial Hall 7.30pm

  1. PRESENT Cllr S. Ramsden Cllr D. Fothergill, Cllr R Harker, Cllr. A Challis, Cllr M Wells, Cllr J Graham, Cllr D Verity, County Cllr A Murday and Clerk Mr Alan Bean and 5 members of the public

  3. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING Proposed Cllr M Wells, Seconded Cllr D. Fothergill

  4. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST .Cllr S Ramsden left the room during discussion regarding the Phone mast.

  5. LOFTHOUSE SCHOOL National Association of Small Schools held a meeting with parents. They are now working on options. These included contact with the National Federation of Governors and Press contacts. St Cuthberts and Glasshouses have also noticed significant drop in pupils as parents move students to other schools further away to help protect their childrens future. It was pointed out that there were 36 pupils a few years ago and now it is down to zero. Stuart Carlton from NYC has been contacted by the parents, but they have never received any replies. Amanda Newbald has yet to respond to request for a report promised many months ago. Cllr M Wells was due an interview for a none voting Governor however the Governors cancelled the meeting.

  6. MATTERS ARISING Criminal damage is being investigated by the police. It was suggested the Police could be requested to visit the council.

  7. COUNCILLORS REPORTS Cllr Murday is circulating a survey about extending the Nidderdale Greenway. NYC Chairs Dinner is due soon, and the council is looking for outstanding members of the public to be put forward for consideration for this as guests. Emergency plan needs reviewing. Lock on the public toilet at Lofthouse is broken. Defibrillator at Studfold was used, and needed repair at a cost of £313.20. It was reported the batteries on defibrillators will need replacing regularly, so councillors are going to check on condition of their local ones. Mirror at Middlesmoor may need repairing. Councillors are going to see what the issue is.

  12. HIGHWAYS Potholes are increasing.

  15. PLANNING APPLICATIONS

ZC23/02902/PNT56 Installation of 20m slimline lattice tower The council has requested postponement, while arranging the developer to join the council at a future meeting to explain in more depth.

ZC23/03206/CLEUD The Old Vicarage Ramsgill the council has no objection

ZC23/02944/FUL Woodside Cottage Heathfield The council supports the application.
